This is a murky release coming from Chattanooga Whiskey – they mention that is’a robust blend, selected for high proof cask notes. But, I don’t see anything proclaiming this as true cask strength. I’m curious. From what I can tell, they are producing their own spirit, but there is little documentation online.
Month: August 2018
“This cigar-worthy rum has an alluring and perfumed nose that calls to mind nicotiana flowers, leather, and dried orange peel. Upon tasting it, our Head Distiller immediately marked the with “DD,” tagging it as a unique expression that should not be blended, but instead set aside as a perfect example of power, balanced by delicacy. “
This is a Cadenheads blend of two 28 year old Linkwood casks that are ex-sherry provenance. It is bottled at cask strength, with no filtering or coloring, under the Cadenheads IB banner.
Review #862 | /r/Bourbon Review #458 – David James 10yr Straight American Whiskey The Schtick: This strange, elusive release recently won best Corn Whiskey at the 2018 San Francisco Spirits Competition, which I found interesting. “Four friends with a passion for great bourbon and whiskey created Old George Town Spirits. “Queen’s Share rum was known to be the best barrels in a distillery & reserved for royalties special occasions. It takes meticulous distilling, additional cut collection, re-distillation, & extended aging to fulfill it’s promise of dense flavor & plush texture. Sadly it became a victim of bottom lines & large volume manufacturing. We take great pride in being a part of this traditional rum’s revival.”

These single casks are selected by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder & MD and are exclusively available in the US. Each cask is specifically chosen to exhibit the diversity of character achieved by using different types of cask to mature Kilchoman single malt. “Single Cask Single Malt is the purest representation of any Scotch whisky, it is an unfiltered and undiluted representation of distillate and cask type.” Anthony Wills, Founder & MD.
This is what I believe to be a sourced release from Old Forge. They boast having 8-9 year old Tennessee Bourbon Whiskey, and this is a store pick, cask strength release. If this is true, it would be ironic, given that they label their products as hand forged spirits.
This is another named single barrel, bottled at cask strength, as part of the Distiller’s Drawers releases at Privateer distilling in Ipswitch, MA.

For Day #16 in the Craft Whiskey Crackdown, I have Boondocks Cask Strength American Whiskey: a sourced whiskey that is aged in ex-bourbon barrels, hence the American Whiskey designation, rather than a bourbon designation.
