First off, I know that this day of the week, Friday, is usually Blog Post Friday. This is less of a blog post, and more of an announcement, I suppose. Expect blog posts to resume next week where I talk about some other cool stuff that’s happened lately.
Anyways, we’ve been pining for agave over at Aficionados for the last year or two, and today that finally comes to fruition. If you’re a member of the server, you’ve likely already seen this announcement, but I wanted to release it to the world as well, since there are one or two bottles left.
Today marks the first release of exclusively selected Cinco Sentidos Mezcal for the Aficionados community. It’s been a long time coming, and taken quite a bit of work, but I’m happy to announce that in a few short weeks you will be able to purchase a bottle of agave distilled from 4 Magueys by Atenogenes Garcia, custom branded, just for Aficionados. The Yak is back, and he wears a delightful new crown.
Right now is a tough time for a lot of industries, and this is no different for 5 Sentidos, as they are also a restaurant. I’m thrilled we were able to pick a run of agave from them, given that all of their releases have performed very solidly, in my opinion.
Here are the details below:
4 Maguey Ensamble:
- 45% Bicuishe
- 25% Coyote
- 25% Tepextate
- 5% Madrecuixe
Produced by Atenogenes Garcia in San Isidro Guishe, Oaxaca.
70 bottle run. $115 – Seelbach’s. When this inaugural batch is gone, it is gone.
Sign Up Below. You’ll be notified when the bottles are available in June, 2020. This is an excellent opportunity to join Aficionados Batch #001 of Agave, while also supporting 5 Sentidos and Seelbach’s.
It’s crisp, has a lot of fruit initially, with some nice minerality and clay smoke in the finish. The Tepeztate comes through really cleanly, without being a vegetable bomb. I get a really big mango + cut grass vibe on the nose. It’s pretty aromatic. ABV carries nicely, it’s 47.5% ABV.
Open to all 50 United States. You don’t want to miss it.
