Name: Cleveland Bourbon Club
Background: Established in 2012, the Cleveland Bourbon Club is a group of 20 enthusiasts who blind-taste and discuss bourbon and rye in order to improve its members’ understandings of these uniquely American spirits.
How many members are in your group? Are you a public group, or a private group? Private group that is restricted at 20 members. This is to ensure every member gets a 1.25oz pour of each bottle in the blind tastings.
If you’re accepting new members, what are dues, if any? The beginning of every year we open for new members if seats are available. There are dues.
How often does your group meet?
The club meets on a monthly basis to do blind tastings.
Is your group currently doing barrel picks? You bet. Here is our list of barrel picks.
IF so, what is your groups favorite barrel selection? Do you have anything from your barrel picking adventures that you remember fondly, or would like to share?
In general, the club’s favorites are the Old Scouts, OKIs, Knob Creek “CBC #4”, and 1792 “Beetlejuice”.
If you feel like sharing, how many selections have you done in the past? What were they? Where would you like to pick in the future? Any pipe dreams?
We hope to one day pick a Willett Family Estate and Four Roses
What’s your favorite experience with your group?
By far the monthly blind tastings.
Tell me anything you’d like the world to know about your group:
On our website we post results from each momthly blind tasting. We also have a “Whiskey Blind Score Library” that presents all the bottles we have tasted over the years.
Blinds don’t lie.
Thanks for the introduction, Ryan, of The Cleveland Bourbon Club!
