Review #108. Tamdhu Signatory Vintage 2005 10 Year

Review #108 | /r/Scotch Review #40 – Signatory Vintage 2005 Tamdhu 10 Year

The Schtick: This is a 10 year IB from Tamdhu that is bottled at cask strength and matured full term in a first fill sherry butt.

Distiller: Tamdhu

Bottler: Signatory Vintage (Stoller Selection)

ABV: 60.5% ABV

Age: 10 Years

Distilled: 1/27/2005

Bottled: 3/13/2015

Maturation: First Fill Sherry

Cask: 354

Mashbill: Single Malt (Barley)

Source: Bottle, Purchased

Nose: Toffee, caramel, some sherry funk and heavy, sweet cream.

Taste: It’s spicy at first and then the sweets roll in. Thick vanilla, toffee, caramel, sherry and some wood funk. It’s delicious and it’s like dessert in a dram. It’s dangerous, too. It drinks no where near 60%.

Finish: Long and complex. Mild ethanol in the finish but accompanied with lots more sweet and sherry funk. I like the funk. I’m glad it sticks around.

Overall: This dram is everything I love at a price I could jizz over. There’s so many $50 bottles I’ve bought I wish I could exchange for another of these.

Thanks for reading!
