Review #11 – Maker’s Mark

Review #11 | /r/Bourbon Review #9 – Maker’s Mark

The Schtick: A modestly aged, modestly proofed, modestly priced wheated bourbon from Maker’s Mark distillery in Kentucky.

Distiller: Maker’s Mark (Kentucky)

Bottler: Maker’s Mark

ABV: 45% ABV

Age: NAS

Mashbill: Wheated Bourbon

Source: Bottle, purchased

Nose: Brown sugar and a little grass

Taste: Coating is fairly light, very little ethanol burn. There’s a little brown sugar and not a whole lot more. Some faint astringency and a taste I can only describe as aluminum.

Finish: Not super short but doesn’t stick around for a while, either. It’s very mild and forgiving, not a lot of alcohol and leaves with a short, sweet finish.

Overall: A bit low on the proof. It’s not unique or exceptional but it also doesn’t suck, so that’s nice. The astringency on the palate is a downer for me, though.

Thanks for reading!
