Review #112. Bruichladdich Waves

Review #112 | /r/Scotch Review #43 – Bruichladdich Waves

The Schtick: Another funky one off from Bruichladdich in their Elements series (Rocks, Waves, etc)

Distiller: Bruichladdich

Bottler: Bruichladdich

ABV: 46% ABV

Mashbill: Single Malt (Barley)

Source: Sample

Nose: Smoke and vanilla, custard and meringue, lemon and heavy cream. Really interesting nose and I like how the smoke and sweet mingle among one another

Taste: Sweet, creamy vanilla. Fruit snacks. Lemon pie. Smoke kicks in swiftly with a healthy dose of laddie brine. Icing follows. Really funky balance of dessert and smoke.

Finish: Medium and smokey. The smoke really settles in here and the classic Bruichladdich bbq bacon notes strike as well. There’s some sweet here as well but it’s mostly a smoke fest.

Overall: This is a really unique dram and I like it a lot. This is one expression I wish had not gone away. The nose is all smoke and the palate is all sweets and fruit and it continues to keep me guessing.

Thanks for reading!
