The Schtick: Distilled by Tio Rey, this ensemble en barre is a blend of 67% Espadin agave and 33% Tepezete agave. It is bottled at a generous 48.5% ABV. Let’s see how it is.
ABV: 48.5% ABV
Nose: Almond, cashew, honey. Light clay, some faint pepper. Light banana. A little restrained on the nose.
Taste: Honey, light confectioners sugar. Light brine. Some faint earth. That fun cashew note is back. Pepper.
Finish: Medium in length. Loads of minerality, smoke, clay and earth. Dry and peppery. The fruit and sweetness is gone.
Overall: Interesting but not for me I don’t think. The finish is a bit dry, and earthy.
