Review #1390 – Diednocker Number One

The Schtick: This dram was tasted blind. I took down my notes, and formulated a guess over my usual tasting sessions. Let’s see how I did!

Review #1390 | International Review #49

Distiller: Diednocker

Bottler: Diednocker

Brand: Diednocker

Selection: N/A

ABV: 42% ABV

Age: 5 Years

Nose: Honey, pear, corn. Young, fruity and toffee like.

Taste: Young, malty. Wet cardboard. Green, wet wood. Thin, no heat on the palate.

Finish: Short, gross and malty. Young and crafty.

Overall: I don’t like this. It’s not wretch inducing, but it’s young and crafty without a lot of complexity. If I had to guess, I’d probably pin this on Hudson, or someone in that wheelhouse. The reveal tells me that this is Diednocker, which I thought was a cryptic name for the blind sample. Turns out that Diednocker is a real thing, something I’d not heard about before. It’s an incredibly tiny batch size each year, and apparently acclaimed to some, but it’s not good. Save yourself the time. Cool to try, though.

Thanks for reading!
