Review #1398 | Scotch Review #484

Distiller: GlenDroanch

Bottler: SMWS

Brand: SMWS

Selection: N/A

ABV: 58.5% ABV

Age: 12 Years

Nose: Honey, candy corn, fresh baked cake, apples and pears. Really sweet, really bread-y which is surprising for GlenDronach. Reminds me a lot of a Nevis. Ethanol is nicely in check.

Taste: Thick, sweet, but a bit hot. Toffee, bread pudding, sweet caramel and some light fruit. Mostly vanilla, some clove, nice bourbon barrel character here. Heat dies down over time which is greatly appreciated.

Finish: Medium to long in duration, heat is more mild than the palate. Big sweet dessert from start to finish – if I had to enunciate what I thought bourbon barrel cake would be like, it would be this.

Overall: This is pretty nice, which sort of surprised me. I thought these stats may be problematic, but I was proven wrong. Nice work, SMWS.
