Distiller: Glen Scotia
ABV: 59% ABV
Age: 13 Years
Nose: Rich honey, toffee, praline and pepper. Minerality, ashy smoke, nougat and almond. Sweet, rich and lots of dessert-y notes here.
Taste: Thick and rich. Some faint heat, but almost nothing to speak of. Sweetness is here – apples, pears, syrupy date fruit. Almonds, nougat and pepper. The heat grows a hair with time, but still behaved, even on the back palate.
Finish: Long, rich but hot. Here’s that ethanol, and it’s here to throw down. Pepper, lots of minerality. The ash smoke grows as well, becoming a really smoky endeavor. The sweetness is entirely engulfed.
Overall: The nose and palate on this is sublime, though the finish sort of goes off the rails. This is a bit unbalanced, but it screams Campbeltown with every breath it has. With that finish ironed out a hair, this could be epic.
