Review #1512 – Wilderness Trail Single Barrel Rye

The Schtick: This is a single barrel of rye from Wilderness Trail. Bottled at barrel proof with no filtering or coloring, this should be a treat as I’ve had relatively little from our folks at Wilderness. Stock image, you know the drill. Let’s dive in.

Review #1512 | Rye Review #653

Distiller: Wilderness Trail

Bottler: Wilderness Trail

Brand: Wilderness Trail

Selection: N/A

ABV: 56.5% ABV

Age: NAS

Nose: Super fruity, rye, clove, minty, tons of berry, mango, toffee. Wow! Lots going on.

Taste: Sweet. Spicy, oh lordie it’s so fruity. A bit hot, but no must. This drinks like a hot, spicy, fruity Baby Saz, but without to oak and tobacco to make it THH.

Finish: Long, oh so hot, but lots going on. Copper, minty, cocoa, raspberry and peach, some vanilla.

Overall: An ode to great rye to come, it’s hot now and pretty unbalanced but no other signs of youth, which has me believing.

Thanks for reading!
