Review #1564 – Absinthe La Clandestine

The Schtick: Produced illegally at first, and becoming the first certified licensed absinthe in 2005, this bottling comes to us from Switzerland where this bottling helped influence the decision to legalize absinthe in Switzerland for the first time in 95 years. Let’s dive in.

Review #1564 | Absinthe Review #5

Distiller: Artemisia-Bugnon

Bottler: Artemisia-Bugnon

Brand: Artemisia-Bugnon

Selection: N/A

ABV: 53.0% ABV

Age: NA

Nose: Anise, clearly, with a really big floral bouquet behind it. Extremely robust, delightful.

Taste: Sweet and rich. Beyond anise there is a creamy rich sweetness, almost a blackberry, currant sweet berry note that is prominent and really delicious. Heat is really well behaved.

Finish: Short in length but rich with flavor, red berries, anise, cream.

Overall: Just delightful. This is an everyday winner for me.
