ABV: 68.5% ABV
Age: 8 Years
Nose: Rich wine, fig and a blast of spirit. The ABV is already quite evident, but there is tons else going on also. Black currant, musty books, bright cherry, some pepper.
Taste: Rich on the palate, with a prick of ethanol. Its hot but not punishing. Lots of cherry, fig, cocoa, vanilla, some pepper and old books (weird for the youth) along with some grating sharpness and a faint chemical note. Kind of grows bitter by the end, but its generally pleasant.
Finish: Long, searing and hot. Punishing, powerful, fruity and complex. Theres so much going on, but most of it is shrouded behind the searing heat in the finish.
Overall: Alright. So, the nose on this is quite nice. Really complex, quite a lot going on and all of it is enticing. The palate is powerful, quite a bit too hot, but pleasant. The finish though is where the Flavor Castle (tm pending) burns down, falls over, and sinks into the swamp. There is no reason for this expression to have been bottled at this time that it was. This needs another decade, at the very least, in my opinion.
