Review #1708 – 5 Sentidos Papalometl

The Schtick: Distilled by Alvarado Jimenez and Amando Alvarez, using agave Tobala, this expression from 5 Sentidos is a real fun one, due to current events in the agave world. Produced in Santa Maria Ixcatlan using a clay pot stull, this should be a real treat. Let’s dive in.

Review #1708 | Mezcal Review #137

Distiller: Amando Alvarez

Bottler: 5 Sentidos

Brand: 5 Sentidos

Selection: N/A

ABV: 44.5% ABV

Age: NA

Nose: Powerful, stanky, loaded with complexity. Garlic, cocktail onion, lactic funk, blue cheese, raw steak, lime and melon. Interesting and enticing.

Taste: Sweet on the palate, lots of celery salt, mango, honey. Side of roasted potato, beef bouillon and celery. Weird and fun, meaty, savory and a hint of fruits like kiwi.

Finish: Short to medium finish, but lots of sweet cream, mango, honeydew and some pepper.

Overall: Weird, interesting, certainly unique. This has a bit of everything in a really fun way.
