Review #261 – Bruichladdich Micro Provenance 2004 Ribera Del Duero Cask 007

Whiskey Network Review #261 | /r/Scotch Review #108- Bruichladdich Micro Provenance 2004 Ribera Del Duero Cask 007, 127.2pf | 63.6% ABV

I’m a deep lover of Bruichladdich but my pockets aren’t wormholes so that presents a problem. This is from Cask 007: Ribera Del Duero and punches heavy at 63.6% ABV

Nose: Sweet charred wood, fudge, oak, yeast, bold smoke and BBQ. Sweetness, astringent plastic but in a sweet delivery. Some toffee, sticky pudding, dense fudge and cocoa powder. This is a wild ride.

Taste: Dark chocolate, heavy rich cocoa, raspberry and sulphur (in a good way). Heavy char, sweet funky smoke. Somewhat lactic. More toffee, fudge, almost portly. Amazing mouth feel with a really oily texture.

Finish: Long, warming and gentle given the proof. Fruity, char heavy, brine and tons of fudge here.

Overall: This is possibly one of the most unique drams I’ve ever had. And I loved it. It’s all over the place and I’ve yet to had something so diverse. It’s peaty, charred, smokey, sweet, chocolatey, doughy, fruity. It amazes me how much is accompanied here. That being said, this is a jack of all trades dram and it does tons well but nothing impeccably. This is fine, I still enjoyed it immensely. I’m giving this a Rank 7

Rank: 7
