Whiskey Network Review #308 | /r/Scotch Review #128 – Old Particular Tobermory 18yo, 96.8 pf | 48.4% ABV
Tobermory be unpeated Ledaig, which I do enjoy. So let’s see how this fares.

Distiller: Tobermory

Bottler: Douglas Laing (Old Particular)

Source: Sample

Nose: Melon, musty salt, dough, yeasty, pastry notes, lemon, apple, sugar

Taste: Sweet, sort of thin but not too bad. Very mild smoked influence, mild salt. Apples, pears, vanilla cream.

Finish: More mild smoke here, growing a little bitter. Faint fruit and some mild sweet and pepper

Overall: It’s fine – nothing too wildly impressive or complex. Fruity, smokey then sweet. I can’t help but wish that this was closer to cask strength and maybe that would have pushed this from forgettable and plain, but still good, to a great whiskey. I’m giving this a Rank 5 as a result.

Thanks for reading!

Rank: 5
