Review #402 | /r/Scotch Review #158 – Signatory Vintage Highland Park 25yr (Cask Strength Collection)
The Schtick: Signatory Vintage releases well esteemed picks in various product lines. This comes from the “Cask Strength Collection” featuring a bottle that is both beautiful and deadly, should someone invade your home during sampling hour.
Distiller: Highland Park
Bottler: Signatory Vintage
ABV: 51.2% ABV | 102.4pf
Age: 25 Years
Coloration | Filtration: NCA | NCF
Mashbill: Single Malt (Barley)
Source: Sampled with a friend from his bar.
Nose: Yeasty dough, toffee, vanilla, caramel, black pepper. Lemon poppyseed, burning tire (mild), some cocoa.
Taste: Smoke is here in spades despite being relatively absent on the nose. Sweet and toffee like. Thick, rich mouthfeel. Caramel, black pepper, mild salinity, oaky tannins. Delightful. This is really great. It’s sweet and dessert like initially and then transforms to a lovely smokey, peppery show.
Finish: Long and smoky, no heat, deliciously peppery, some cocoa.
Overall: This is the definition of refined smoke. The flavors play incredibly well and are delightful. I love everything about it and I’m giving it a high rating to match.
