Review #43 | /r/Scotch Review #16 – Laphroaig 10yr
The Schtick: Laphroaig is a Beam/Suntory scotch distillery in the Islay region of scotch. Known for several core age stated products, they also specialize in funky one-offs that make little sense and generally carry no age statements.
Distiller: Laphroaig (Beam/Suntory)
ABV: 43% ABV
Age: 10 Years
Source: Bottle, Purchased
Nose: Smoke and peat. Surprised? Me either. There’s some citrus and vanilla, followed by some delicious burning rubber and a little more smoke.
Taste: Rubber and smoke, blended with some peat and a little hint of sweetness.
Finish: Short, a little rough and a lot smokey.
Overall: It’s complex and has some really stand out flavors despite the relative youth and low proof.
