Review #522 | /r/Scotch Review #187 – The Glenrothes Single Cask #5578
The Schtick: This is a single cask from Glenrothes, matured in sherry.
Distiller: Glenrothes (Speyside)
ABV: 56.8% ABV
Age: 13 Years (2003 -> 2016)
Bottle: One of 552
Additional Information: Bottled for Kansas
Nose: Honey and leather. Big sherry, tobacco, custard, stewed fruits and caramel.
Taste: Medium mouthfeel, nice nuttiness. Caramel, vanilla, butter cream, stewed fruits. It’s really rich and sweet.
Finish: Long with some heat – pepper and tobacco make an appearance here. Nutty caramel, cream and some funky sherry sulfur.
Overall: Really pretty impressive. This profile is so similar to GlenDronach, it’s really interesting. It’s like a GlenDronach Single Cask Lite. In a good way.
