Review #526 | /r/WorldWhisky Review #13 – Kavalan Solist Port
The Schtick: This is a young, cask strength bottling from Kavalan in Taiwan. This is matured in Port casks.
Photo not accurate. Stolen from interwebz
Distiller: Kavalan (Taiwan)
ABV: 58.6% ABV
Nose: Rich raspberry, ruby port notes, berry, caramel, port port port.
Taste: Medium mouthfeel, sweet but peppery, leather. Faintly fruity, very earthy and spicy
Finish: Long and some growing astringency. There’s more fruit here than in the palate, but it’s still a total spice bomb. Loads of pepper and tobacco
Overall: Rich port on the nose. Peppery earthy palate. Astringent dry finish. Glad I tried a sample of this so I can pass on this anytime I see it around.
