Review #54. Colonel EH Taylor Single Barrel

Review #54 | /r/Bourbon Review #27 – Colonel E.H. Taylor Single Barrel

The Schtick: This is a single barrel offering from the same line as the Colonel E.H.Taylor Small Batch. It is also bottled in bond. It is important to note that, like Eagle Rare 10, no real barrel information is given.

Distiller: Buffalo Trace

Bottler: Buffalo Trace

ABV: 50% ABV

Age: NAS

Mashbill: Buffalo Trace Mashbill #1 (Low Rye Content)

Source: Sample

Nose: Vanilla, some corn and woodiness, followed by lots of sugary sweet.

Taste: Vanilla, buttery nougat and some minor spice.

Finish: Long, spicier than I expected, complex and well blended. Some more vanilla, a little more sweetness and a gentle departure.

Overall: I want some more of it but it’s hard to find and expensive in these parts. I think I’ll hold off for now, but it is a pleasant and enjoyable dram even if it’s not wildly complex.

Thanks for reading!
