Review #555. Talisker Distillers Edition 2003 2014

Review #555 | /r/Scotch Review #197 – Talisker Distiller’s Edition 2003-2014

The Schtick: This is an 11yr release from Talisker – their 10yr release finished an extra year in Amoroso sherry.

Distiller: Talisker (Islay)

Bottler: Talisker

ABV: 45.8% ABV

Age: 11yrs

Source: Bottle, Purchased

Nose: Caramel, brine, nougat and toffee. Faint fruitiness, its bright and sweet with a nice salted caramel balance

Taste: Medium mouthfeel, brine, smoke pepper. Sweet caramel, faintly nutty.

Finish: Medium length, smoky and peppery, sweet vanilla buttercream.

Overall: This is a lovely, diverse dram that I find I enjoy far more than the regular ten year old expression. The blend of nutty, sweet, briny and smoky with a faint fruity essence is refreshing and delicious.

Thanks for reading!

Rank: 7
