**Review #633 | /r/Scotch Review #215 – Gordon and MacPhail Highland Park 15yr 1999 Vintage Cask Strength **
The Schtick: This is an independent bottling of Highland Park spirit by Gordon and MacPhail. It is 15 years old and matured exclusively in a 1st fill ex-borbon barrel. It is non-chill filtered and has no color added. It is bottled at cask strength
Distiller: Highland Park (Orkney)
Bottler: Gordon MacPhail
ABV: 55.8% ABV
Age: 15 Years
Maturation: First Fill Ex Bourbon
Nose: Honey, lemon cream. Salinity and doughy cake notes. Pepper, faint earthiness. Faint mineral notes. Sweet, doughy and earthy peat. Yum.
Taste: Medium mouthfeel, smokey pepper. Lemon buttercream. Pepper, some salinity. Light fruitiness. Overall, it’s a nice smoky, sweet, lightly fruity dram. Mmmm Highland Park.
Finish: Long finish, rich with smoke and minerality followed by sweet cream, honey and lemon pepper.
Overall: A delicious blend of some of my favorite notes. Few IB’s are so wildly different from one to the next compared to Highland Park’s base spirit which isn’t always great, but this is a hit in my book.
