Review #657 – Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon, Polaris Selection

Review #657 | /r/Bourbon Review #379 – Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon, Polaris Selection

The Schtick: We make a brief return to the days of old. I have not wobbled in some time, but it sure it time to Gobble again.

Distiller: Wild Turkey

Bottler: Wild Turkey

ABV: 55% ABV

Age: NAS

Source: Sample

Additional Info: Warehouse G-5, Barrel #166

Nose: Honey, clove, allspice. Toffee. Loads of Wild Turkey spice. Stewed fruits, musty tobacco and some brown sugar + molasses.

Taste: Medium mouth feel, some well restrained heat. Pepper, allspice and clove are realy prominent followed by earthy tobacco, faint butterscotch and some nice fruitiness.

Finish: Short, hot and peppery – really spicy.

Overall: This pick was great up until the finish where it kind of came off of the rails. A little more pepper than I’d like, but we’re starting off pretty well, nonetheless.

Thanks for reading!
