Review #666 – Glen Grant 2008 8yr Gordon & MacPhail Cask Strength Collection (Marriage of Casks)

Review #666 | /r/Scotch Review #228 – Glen Grant 8yr 2008 Vintage Gordon & MacPhail Cask Strength Collection

The Schtick: This is a marriage of two different casks (#900011 and #900014) that is matured in a first fill sherry hogshead. It is released at cask strength.

Distiller: Glen Grant

Bottler: Gordon & MacPhail

ABV: 56.7% ABV

Age: 8 Years

Source: Sample

Nose: Sticky butterscotch, plums. Rich syrupy sherry, nutty toffee. Overall very rich. More toffee forward sherry presence with light floral fruity noes and dole fruit syrup type makeup. Really really enticing nose.

Taste: Thick mouth feel, really restrained heat. Sweet butterscotch, nutty sherry paired with figs, dates, bananas and some jammy raspberry. Tobacco, nougat and some nice pepper balances nicely.

Finish: Long, stewed fruits steal the show with a nice toffee bomb exit.

Overall: Why don’t I drink more Glen Grant? Hoo baby, I really enjoyed this. A lot.
