Review #679 | /r/WorldWhisky Review #20 – Crown Royal Hand Select
The Schtick: This comes from a 4-way blind send. He said he’d send me 4 samples (Crown Hand Select, Crown Apple, Mystery Mystery – all blind), most of them garbage, and let me go from there. I took notes and here they are. I did the tasting and got the reveals on the Whiskey Network Discord Server and then wrote up the pertinent details for posting the review. Enjoy!
Distiller: Crown Royal
Bottler: Crown Royal
ABV: 51.5% ABV
Nose: Maple, honey, grains, cereal.
Taste: Not sweetened. Key here. Cocoa, caramel, bready grains, sweet and light musty cardboard. It’s young. No real heat, but a fairly fine mouthfeel which leads me to think it’s reasonable proof.
Finish: Short, innocent and toffee forward.
Overall: This isn’t terrible. I don’t think it’s a sweetened sample, and it’s def not Crown Apple. The light bready notes and the resembalnce of a decent proof makes me think this is the Crown Hand Select.
Reveal: Crown Royal Hand Select. Hooray.
Thanks for reading!
