Review #685 | /r/Bourbon Review #392 – Four Roses Private Selection OBSV, Loch and Key Selection
The Schtick: This is a cask strength, single barrel release from Four Roses, featuring their OBSV recipe.
Distiller: Four Roses
Bottler: Four Roses
ABV: 55.5% ABV
Age: 10 Years, 1 Month
Nose: Cocoa, graham cracker, ethanol, tobacco. There’s a nice oakiness and a very strong toffee note also.
Taste: Medium mouthfeel, no real heat here. Cocoa, pepper and oak are the front runners, some clove. Overall, it’s a hair muted.
Finish: Medium length, faint clove. Nice fruitiness comes out with a good cocoa, graham cracker finish.
Overall: I enjoyed this and found the oak and spice to be well balanced with the sweet toffee and graham cracker. I wish there was a little more going on in the palate, but this was far from disappointing.
