Review #772 – Aultmore 2008 9 Year Sovereign K&L Wines Single Cask

Review #772 | /r/Scotch Review #261 – Aultmore 2008 9 Year Sovereign K&L Wines Single Cask

The Schtick: This is a single cask of Aultmore spirit that is bottled by Sovereign at cask strength for K&L Wines. I reviewed it live on the official Whiskey Network Discord server and got the reveal so that I could type up this review.

Distiller: Aultmore

Bottler: Sovereign for KLWines

ABV: 59.8% ABV

Age: 9 Years

Additional Info: First Fill Sherry Maturation | NCA | NCF

Source: Sample

Nose: Toffee, clove, sticky fruits, doughnuts, dense cocoa, nutty, figs, dates, stewed fruits, sulfuric, faint rubber. Super sweet. Some ethanol

Taste: Thick, rich, mild heat, full mouth feel. Sulfuric, pepper, rubber, sticky toffee, figs, blackberry currant, dates, caramel. Super sherry forward.

Finish: It’s long, mild heat. Sweet sherry, grapes, figs, cocoa, sulfuric.

Overall + Guess: Good, but on the edge of too much sulfuric influence. Really enjoyable sherry bomb though. I think it could have used a little more balance, but enjoyed it quite a bit all the same. Guessing The GlenDronach, Glenlivet IB, maybe Bunna IB, 8-12 years sherried, 46% – 51% ABV. 6/10.

Reveal: Aultmore 2008 9 Year Sovereign K&L Wines Single Cask, First Fill sherry matured, cask strength, NCF | NCA. Dang. This was really enjoyable. Total sherry bomb. Total sleeper ABV as well.

Thanks for reading!
