Review #801 | /r/Scotch Review #272 – Glenlivet 1995 20yr Signatory Vintage First Fill Sherry
The Schtick: This is a Signatory Vintage release of Glenlivet distillate that has been aged in a first fill sherry cask for 20 years. It is bottled at cask strength and received no filtering or coloring.
Distiller: The Glenlivet
Bottler: Signatory Vintage
ABV: 57.4% ABV
Age: 20 Years
Nose: Cocoa, butter, pipe tobacco. Jammy fruits, toffee.
Taste: Thick and rich, but lots of heat. Toffee, tobacco, cream. Stone fruits, jammy, rich sherry. Plums, figs, cherries. Sulfur and pepper.
Finish: Long, some heat. Sulfur, pepper, tobacco, cream, cocoa and sherry. Grows bitter.
Overall: Super rich but a bit too much sulfur. I think I really prefer the 12-16 year releases of these Glenlivets in FF Sherry. This was still good, but couldn’t reach as high as some of the others.
