Review #82 | /r/Scotch Review #32 – Bruichladdich Rockside Farm Islay Barley

The Schtick: This is a release from Bruichladdich that is aged for 6 years. It is made from Barley grown on Islay at Bruichladdie’s Rockside Farm.

Distiller: Bruichladdich

Bottler: Bruichladdich

ABV: 50% ABV

Age: 6 Years

Mashbill: Single Malt (Barley)

Source: Bottle, Purchased

Nose: Honey followed by brine and nice smokiness

Taste: Custard, vanilla sweetness with more smoke. There’s some briney notes in the tail end.

Finish: Far longer than I expected. The finish starts bacon/briney and then moves into smoke and finishes sweet. Far exceeds my expectations based on the nose and the palate.

Overall: This is a fun and educational look at some of Bruichladdich’s different production methods. It also helps that it is delicious.

Thanks for reading!
