Review #834 – Douglas Laing’s: The Epicurean

Review #834 | /r/Scotch Review #281 – Douglas Laing’s: The Epicurean

The Schtick: This is a Douglas Laing blended release made from a variety of lowland expressions.

“A lowland blended malt from the excellent Douglas Laing that’s “city born and bred” and is personified by the 1930s cheeky chappy and all-round connoisseur on the label!” – Master of Malt

Distiller: Various (Blend)

Bottler: Douglas Laing

ABV: 46.2% ABV

Age: NAS

Source: Sample

Nose: Honey, peaches, pears, vanilla, waxy fruits.

Taste: Thin, mild heat, vanilla, pears, pepper, waxy fruits, mild smoke. Reminds me of a weaker Great Kings Street from Compass Box, almost.

Finish: Short, thin, hot, fruity pears. Faint lime, waxy fruits.

Overall: Not bad but too hot in the finish for what it is. Other than the heat, this is really enjoyable, mustache and all.

Thanks for reading!
