The Schtick: This is an 11yr, cask strength release from Glenfarclas, which is well known to produce some well sherried whiskies. This was a European release not seen in the states.
Distiller: Glenfarclas
Bottler: Glenfarclas
ABV: 59.8% ABV
Age: 11 Years
Distilled: 2004
Bottled: 2015
Source: Sample
Nose: Honey, sticky fruits, toffee, nutty, rich sherry fruits. Loads of caramel.
Taste: Thick, rich, some heat, sour fruits, citrus, leather, oak, pepper, tobacco, sulfur. The richness here is astounding, and there is a ton of stewed fruits: figs, dates, currants, blackberry which blends really well with caramel.
Finish: Long, rich, sweet cream, sherry, tobacco. Finish goes for days.
Overall: Really nice, little hot, nice sherry though. Complex blend of tobacco, sherry, sticky fruits, vanilla. Richness carries throughout. What more can I say? I really enjoyed this, thoroughly.
Thanks for reading!
