Review #86. Bruichladdich Rocks

Review #86 | /r/Scotch Review #33 – Bruichladdich Rocks

The Schtick: This is a red wine finished unpeated expression from Bruichladdich. Non chill filtered and natural color.

Distiller: Bruichladdich

Bottler: Bruichladdich

ABV: 46% ABV

Age: NAS

Maturation: Finished in red wine casks

Mashbill: Single Malt (Barley)

Source: Bottle, Purchased

Nose: Honey, brine, some light floral fruit and some sweet cream. Pretty lactic, as I find most Bruichladdich spirit to be.

Taste: Thin mouth feel but light, briney and sweet. There’s fruit and a hint of wine followed by more hay, honey and brine.

Finish: Medium, more salty grain, followed by one last round of wine sweetness.

Overall: Personally, I enjoy this dram. It’s not as wine-forward as I was hoping but all in all, I think it’s solid. It’s kind of a niche whiskey though and I can’t say that I come home everyday and think to myself, “Rocks is the whiskey for tonight” but when I”m in the mood, it’s enjoyable.

Thanks for reading!
